With the 221st overall pick and the first pick of the seventh round, the Bills selected Travis Clayton, a former rugby player from the United Kingdom. Clayton has never played in a football game but possesses the raw tools that could translate to play offensive tackle in the league. A royal source said they don’t expect any Counselors of State - the senior royals who can stand in for Charles - will be needed next week. Currently, Princes William, Harry, Andrew and Edward, as well as Princess Anne, are able to fulfil Charles’ duties in his absence. The Princess of Wales was seen over Christmas with the family in Sandringham and appeared well at various public engagements, notes CNN royal historian Kate Williams. Her husband, Prince William, will juggle childcare while being by her side as she recovers, another royal source said. With all this in mind, the monarchy still needs a public facing royal and that will come in the form of Queen Camilla.

CNN —When England’s women first played at Twickenham in 2003, the crowd was scattered about the vast stadium, almost imperceptible in the pictures taken that day. Twenty years later, in the latest historic occasion for women’s rugby, a world record crowd of 58,498 supporters watched England win the Women’s Six Nations by defeating France 38-33 in a thrilling finale at Twickenham, the home of English rugby union. The previous record for a women’s game was 42,579, set at the 2022 women’s rugby World Cup final in New Zealand. To produce a game like that on a stage like this is everything that is good about the game. Ultimately, however, it was too little too late – France’s last try arrived as the clock ticked into the red – and England clung on for victory.

Feb 1 (Reuters) - England's Rugby Football Union (RFU) has issued conditional offers for Sale Sharks Women and Worcester Warriors Women to join the Premier 15s for the 2023-24 season, it said on Wednesday. Including Sale would help grow the game in the north, the RFU said. There was no place for Sale, Worcester, Wasps and Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, with the RFU saying that teams would still have a chance to join at a later stage. "The RFU has therefore developed a package of support (...), which coupled with a strategy for further investment will allow Sale Sharks to adequately address the feedback from the tender panel." Worcester have recently secured funding to enable them to continue to operate, RFU added, and have also been offered a conditional place in the competition.

CNN —Former rugby player Levi Davis has been reported missing for over a week, his former club said in an appeal for any information pertaining to his whereabouts. Bath Rugby Club issued an appeal Sunday for information about Davis, who they say was last seen in a pub in Barcelona, Spain, on October 29, 2022, on its Twitter account. The appeal described Davis as 5-foot-9 (176cm) and said that anyone with information could email findlevidavis@gmail.com. “If anyone has seen or heard from Levi Davis in the last two weeks could you please drop me a message asap. In a statement sent to CNN, the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it was “providing consular support to the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain.”
